Perinatal Mental Health Therapy

The journey from trying to conceive through pregnancy, birth, and the first years of parenthood touches every part of who you are. I offer therapy for the emotional landscape of this season, the joy and grief, the anticipation and overwhelm, the identity shifts that no one quite prepares you for, and the inevitable impact on relationships that may leave you feeling more like co-workers than partners.

Whether you're navigating relationship changes, fertility worries, processing a birth experience, working through anxiety, OCD, depression, or simply finding your footing as a new parent, you don't have to do it alone.

What I help with

  • Perinatal anxiety, depression, and intrusive thoughts
  • Birth trauma and difficult delivery experiences
  • Postpartum adjustment and identity shifts
  • Pressures and isolation with new parenthood
  • Relationship changes and challenges

How I work in this space

My practice is trauma-informed and integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR where it fits, and a deep respect for your pace. We start where you are and work toward what you want your experience of parenthood and partnership to feel like.

Sessions are available in-person in Kelowna or securely online for clients across British Columbia, including from your couch while baby naps.

Common questions

A few things people often want to know before reaching out.

When should I reach out for perinatal mental health support?

Anytime the experience of trying to conceive, pregnancy/birth, or parenthood feels overwhelming or heavier than you hoped. There is no minimum threshold. Whether you're navigating fertility challenges, processing a difficult birth, struggling with intrusive thoughts, or simply not feeling like yourself, this is a place to start.

Do you work with partners or only the birthing parent?

Both. Perinatal mental health affects the whole family. Sessions can be one-on-one with the birthing parent, with a partner, or together as a couple, whatever fits what you need.

What if I have a baby with me during sessions?

Babies are welcome in sessions. We can pause for a feed, take some time to settle for a nap, whatever supports you. If you need anything in the office to make sessions more comfortable, reach out by email or let me know in session what would make counselling more accessible.

Is this different from postpartum depression treatment?

Perinatal mental health is the umbrella; it includes postpartum depression and anxiety/OCD, but also fertility grief, relationship challenges, birth trauma, antenatal mood challenges, and the identity work of becoming a parent. We tailor care to what you're actually carrying.
